About AdvaitaBio
Dr. Sorin Draghici set out to change that. A computer scientist and bioinformatician at Wayne State University, Sorin built a proprietary method called Impact Analysis that doesn’t treat genes as isolated data points. It maps their function, position, and interactions across entire biological pathways, the way biology actually works. The result is fewer false positives, cleaner results, and the kind of confidence researchers need to act on their findings. That science became a platform. And that platform became the analytical backbone for some of the most demanding research institutions and drug development programs in the world. We are now scaling what that science makes possible.
The same rigor that earned Advaita its reputation in pathway analysis, variant interpretation, and multi-omic integration is being paired with the AI infrastructure and engineering capacity to operate at the speed and scale that modern drug discovery demands. The bottleneck between a promising dataset and a clinical insight has always been analytical. We are built to remove it.
Our Leadership

Strategic Partnerships and Product Manager
Christopher Sifuentes, Ph.D.Christopher brings a rare combination of deep computational biology expertise and strategic program leadership to Advaita. He holds a Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Michigan. Before joining Advaita, Christopher spent six years at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative leading computational biology strategy and multimodal data generation initiatives across the CZI Biohub network, where he built global research partnerships and connected researcher needs to programs at scale. Earlier roles at Takara Bio and the University of Michigan’s DNA Sequencing Core gave him hands-on experience in NGS pipeline development and single-cell analysis. At Advaita, Christopher connects the company’s platform to the researchers, institutions, and data ecosystems where it can have the greatest impact.

Head of Engineering
Radu Vanciu, Ph.D.Radu Vanciu leads engineering at Advaita Bio, where he is scaling the team behind the company’s bioinformatics platform. He brings over a decade of software architecture experience spanning cloud infrastructure, data pipeline development, and microservices.
Radu is an alumnus of Advaita’s early engineering team, where he spent nearly five years helping build the tools now used by life scientists worldwide. He left to spend six years at ProQuest (part of Clarivate) as Senior Software Architect, leading large-scale infrastructure modernisation and performance engineering — then came back to Advaita to apply that experience where it started.
He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from Wayne State University, with published research spanning bioinformatics applications and software engineering theory.

CEO
Mike MattacolaMike Mattacola is the CEO of Advaita Bio, where he is leading the company’s next chapter — pairing its two decades of rigorous bioinformatics science with the AI infrastructure and operational scale needed to accelerate drug discovery and omics research.
Coming in as an outsider, Mike saw immediately what drew him in: a platform trusted by over 13,000 researchers worldwide, built on hard science, and ready to scale. His mission is straightforward — the gap between the lab and the patient is too wide, and discovery takes too long because analysis is still manual and slow. Advaita is here to collapse that timeline.
Mike came to Advaita from CoreWeave, where as Chief Business Officer and later GM of International, he built the company’s European business from the ground up. Before CoreWeave, he served as COO at Lambda and spent twelve years at Johnson Controls in senior operational leadership roles. He brings an operator’s instinct to one of biology’s hardest problems.

Life Scientist
Cristiana Iosef, Ph.D.Cristiana brings over two decades of translational biomedical research experience to her role at Advaita Bio, where she has been part of the team since 2022, contributing to product development, quality control, and customer support. She serves as a critical bridge between Advaita’s platform and the scientists who use it — ensuring the tools perform rigorously and that researchers get the most out of them.
Her scientific background spans leading North American research institutions, including Stanford University School of Medicine, with earlier work across academic medical centres in precision medicine, translational biomarker discovery, and omics data integration.
At Advaita, she brings that same scientific rigour to the product itself — helping ensure that tools built for life scientists are validated, intuitive, and grounded in how research actually works at the bench.

Chief Scientific Officer & Founder
Sorin Draghici, Ph.D.Sorin Draghici founded Advaita Bio twenty years ago on a simple but powerful idea: that understanding biology requires analysing entire pathways, not isolated genes. That conviction became the scientific foundation of a platform now trusted by researchers worldwide — and it remains the guiding principle behind everything Advaita builds.
Sorin earned his Ph.D. from the University of St. Andrews and has spent nearly three decades as a Professor of Computer Science and Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wayne State University, where he leads the Intelligent Systems and Bioinformatics Laboratory. Since July 2022, he has also served as a Program Director at the National Science Foundation. He was elected a Fellow of the IEEE in 2022 for contributions to the analysis of high-throughput genomics and proteomics data.
His research underpins the platform’s scientific foundation, with over 15,000 citations across pathway analysis, computational biology, disease subtype discovery, and drug repurposing.
As Chief Science Officer, Sorin ensures that as Advaita scales its infrastructure and broadens its platform, the science underneath it stays uncompromisingly rigorous.

Chief Financial Officer
Michael DonovanMichael Donovan has spent his career bringing financial clarity and structure to complex organisations, giving leaders the insight they need to make business decisions with confidence. A CPA and University of Michigan Ross School of Business graduate, he began at PricewaterhouseCoopers and has since held senior finance leadership roles across consumer, healthcare, and manufacturing companies in the Detroit area — consistently stepping in to drive financial planning and strategy, streamline back-office operations, and position organisations for long-term financial health.
At Advaita, Michael oversees financial strategy and business operations as the company enters its next chapter — pairing two decades of bioinformatics science with the investment planning and execution needed to scale globally.

Bioinformatics Scientist
Roger Vargas, PhDDr. Roger Vargas is a computational biologist and immunologist with expertise in bioinformatics, machine learning, and translational data science. He previously served as a Computational Immunologist at Moderna, where he supported vaccine and oncology therapeutic programs through the analysis of high-dimensional immunology and sequencing datasets. His work spanned single-cell genomics, immunopeptidomics, and computational modeling to advance therapeutic development and clinical research initiatives.
Prior to joining Moderna, Dr. Vargas held research and computational biology roles at Harvard Medical School and the Bill & Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute, where he focused on infectious disease genomics, biomarker discovery, and systems biology approaches to translational medicine. He earned his Ph.D. in Systems, Synthetic, and Quantitative Biology from Harvard University and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in computational biology, genomics, and immunology.
